Ok, I recently installed all this new stuff, and windows 7 home premium was a part of that stuff. As soon as I installed windows 7, I can only get audio through my headphones. When I hook my speakers back up, nothing. I know the speakers work, what I'm assuming is wrong, is my drivers aren't right or something. I don't know, I'm no computer genius.
My headset is an edimensional audio fx pro 5.1. Speakers, idk, they came with the computer, which is an emachines W3118. Kind of, I've switched so much stuff out.
And I don't know how to check drivers, so if you need them, I guess give me some info and I will check them.
I am gonna let someone else really answer this question for you. But my guess as to why your headphones work is that they may have a built in sound chip in the headset.. and it takes over sound when it is plugged in.. just like my sennheisers. Sound can be tricky.. but I am sure you will work it out.
Well yeah thats true, they do take over but I do unplug them when I plug my speakers in. So when I plug my speakers in there's nothing taking them over.
I know when I had my speakers working and would un plug my headsets, I would still have to change my settings back for speaker use. I'm sure it is a settings issue and Huntor or Mo will be along shortly to right it Bay.
Your problem may be that you set the sound preference to 5.1, then when you unplug your headphones windows still thinks it's running 5.1 when it should be outputting 2.1.
but the problem is, it doesn't even register that my speakers are there. I unplug my headset, and plug my speakers in, and it won't even give me any options. It doesn't even know they are there. And I am pretty sure the jacks work.
