Ok guy's here is my problems.

Booted rig up and video started doing weird things, like random spots on the screen would change colors not the whole screen but just small pixels here and there. Then started steam and the video would pop in and out. Then I re started system and the same thing happen.

I've tried another Video card with the same results, I've tried looking up similar complaints but maybe I'm misunderstanding what their telling me. I've also tried removing memory 1 stick at the a time no changes. My temps before freezing up were normal.

Now the computer starts to boot but when it's booting through the normal process I see dots all over the screen, but the things are still readable just many dots. It now freezes at the windows logo screen.

CPU= amd 940 4X
mobo= ASUS M3N-HD/HDMI
Video Card= BFG GTX 280
Memory= Corsair 3, 2 gig sticks
PSU= ULTRA 800w 3x ATX

If you need any more info just let me know. Thanks in advance for any Ideas guy's.

Does it have onboard graphic chipset ?Try using that instead , when I had video issues , I used the onboard to rule out alot of parts and softwares.Good Luck .

If you are freezing at the splash screen "windows logo screen" that sounds like a virus to me. I had that exact same problem once and I had to wipe it.

The spots on the screen sounds like a video card problem.. but since you changed it out with the same results.. I am baffled on that one.

But that windows logo freezing thing really bothers me. Many times it will write to your boot sector and you never get passed that screen unless you go into bios and boot from an optical drive or something. I would take it to a repair shop and have them test the parts maybe.

Yeah I would agree. It does seem like some sort of virus. Also check temperatures of your CPU. I have an AMD 3.4 quad core and the stock does not cool well enough. The spots seem like a creative way of showing off a virus problem. But with temps going up in the house. The processor heat sink may not be doing it's job.

I replaced the one I had with this one and now runs around room temp.

It is a massive size heat sink. I uses a 120mm fan to cool it muhahahaha and is not to expensive.

Thanks for the heads up guys! PJ1 ugh no onboard video was thinking of same thing . Hunotr All my rigs get Zero therm used on all CPU's, and Video cards chips get it as well. I also use an aftermarket 120mm cooling fan and all temps have pretty much stayed inside the numbers they are at normally.

Here's a question I've got...I use Itunes a lot for my IPOd, ever hear of ppl getting virus off that program?? That was pretty much the last place I was when this stuff happen.

I have only been using I-Tunes since Christmas on my daughters laptop with no problems . I have not heard of anyone getting a virus from that , but I guess anything is possible these days , most likely just a coincidence .

Tate, bro, did you just try to recover the OS yet? Your not playing with XP here,have some faith in M$. No it will not be a one shot repair, but a rebuilt boot sector and getting 7 running....... PRICELESS!!!!!!

Yeah I'm with mopar. Take a look at the changes that were made in your system that set a restore point. I would guess that that it was a corrupt bootloader along with some sytem files. If you hit f8 I believe it is on start up you will get windows diagnostics. you can restore or repair from there. I would try a repair first, then move on to restore.

I've tried the repair part 3 times now and each one stops at the same point, telling me repair can't fix this computer and that more info should be sent to MS. All three times I've sent the info but still having same issues, can't get past the windows Icon when it loads. When I boot up I'm still seeing all these dots, but I guess I will seeing how I've really not changed anything...
